Use case — resource planning
A resource planning checklist for small teams
Plan work by comparing active commitments with the people and time available. A task board can show assignments, but capacity decisions also require team input.
Five steps to plan upcoming work
Use this review before accepting new commitments or moving deadlines.
1. List the work
Capture deliverables, owners, due dates and expected effort where known.
2. Confirm availability
Ask about leave, support duties and work outside the project list.
3. Compare deadlines
Look for overlapping dates and dependencies that could create a bottleneck.
4. Agree trade-offs
Choose what to reassign, rescope or move when workload exceeds capacity.
5. Revisit the plan
Update owners and dates when priorities or estimates change.
